Noises Off
by Michael Frayn

"The funniest farce ever written!" - The New York Post

The Winnipesaukee Playhouse is delighted to open our brand new location with this gloriously funny celebration of life in the theatre!  Noises Off follows the on-and off-stage antics of an acting troupe as they stumble from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night. Everything that can go wrong does, as actors desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances and the furniture. Add a slippery plate of sardines and many slamming doors, and you have the most hilarious backstage farce ever written.

Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure
by Steven Dietz

Winner of the 2007 Edgar Award for Best Mystery Play

The world's greatest detective has seemingly reached the end of his remarkable career when a case presents itself that is too tempting to ignore.  With his trusted companion, Doctor Watson, at his side, Sherlock Holmes pursues first the case, and then the affections of the beautiful Irene Adler—and in doing so, marches right into the lair of his longtime adversary, that malevolent genius of crime: Professor Moriarty.  In this spirited, fast-moving and thoroughly theatrical adaptation, Dietz presents Holmes at the height of his powers—surrounded by all the elements that fans of his exploits have come to expect: danger, intrigue, wit, humor and surprise.

Barefoot in the Park
by Neil Simon

Neil Simon’s biggest Broadway hit!

This light-hearted romance between a straight-laced lawyer and an impetuous free spirit begins where most romantic comedies end – with the marriage!  Set in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s, it opens with newlyweds Paul and Corie moving into their fifth-floor walkup apartment. Adjusting to married life soon becomes complicated by a leaking skylight, the appearance of her mother, an eccentric neighbor, and all those stairs!  Will solving their problems be as simple as taking a barefooted walk in the park?

Orchestra: $27, 1st Row Balcony: $22, 2nd Row Balcony: $15

The Fantasticks
Music by Harvey Schmidt, book and lyrics by Tom Jones.

The World's Longest Running Musical

“Try to Remember” when this delightful musical was not entrancing theatergoers around the world.  A NY institution which opened in 1960 and is playing there still, it is a fable of “a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall”.   With its poetic dialogue and a staging that epitomizes simplicity, the tale of youth, learning, love, and growth will mark the Playhouse’s first professional musical production.

Mondays - Saturdays 7:30pm, Monday 2:00pm

The Unicycle of Life
by Bryan Halperin

The Playhouse’s first professional world premiere!  Special bonus production, one week only.

It’s just another day on tour for the Kelly Family Circus where backstage life supplies as many laughs, thrills, and dramatic moments as the afternoon’s performance.  A young girl’s visit to the circus and the surprise romance between two performers has ripple effects on all the members of the circus family including the jugglers, trapeze artists, tightrope walkers and, of course, clowns.  Executive Director Bryan Halperin’s dramatic comedy looks at life through the colorful lens of the Big Top!  Elephants not included.
